Can I put hot items directly onto my countertop?
NO! You should never put "hot" items on any countertop material, solid surface or otherwise.
A trivet should be used under hot items. However, the advantage of the solid surface countertops are that they can be repaired if damaged from hot items.

Can I cut on my countertop?
NO! It will cause damage and scratches to your countertop, not to mention the damage to your knives.
You should always use a cutting board. Cutting causes damage to any countertop, but solid surface countertops are the only countertops that can be renewed or repaired if damaged by sharp objects.

How long does the actual in-house countertop installation take?
It depends on the access to the kitchen and how many seams will be necessary. The average installation takes approximately six hours.
